Meeting Notes / Announcements
● Jana welcomed
everyone to the meeting.
● We discussed our MQG
membership and VBMQG dues.
o Motion made to not re-join
the Modern Quilt Guild in 2018
▪ Motion passed with a
unanimous vote
o Motion made to leave
annual dues at $30
▪ Motion passed with a
unanimous vote
● Paint Chip Challenge
for the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival
o Quilts are due at
the February meeting (2/17) It should have a label and sleeve for hanging.
● Membership dues were
collected
● We discussed the
idea of a beach house vs a hotel for the VBMQG retreat this year. Nothing has
been decided at this time, it’s something to think about in the upcoming
months.
● New Activities for
2018
o Birthday Gifts
▪ Each month there
will be a sign-up to make gifts for the following months’ birthdays. Each
member should sign up to make 1 gift.
o Advent Calendar
▪ Rather than bring gifts
to your secret sister each month, we’ll save them up and give 24 gifts at the
November meeting.
▪ You’ll collect 24
individually wrapped gifts, including at least 6 handmade items.
▪ Sign-ups in February
o New Regular Challenges
▪ Block Lottery -
Monthly
● Meli will be the
coordinator
● Each month will be a
different themed block.
● You’ll make however
many you want, each one is an entry in the drawing to win them.
▪ WIP Challenge -
Quarterly
● Sign-up is $5 an
entry
● List 3 Works In
Progress (WIPs) that you will finish by the end of the time frame. If you
complete all three, you’ll be in a drawing to win a prize as well as the money
collected.
o Social Activities
▪ We’d like to start
planning more activities outside the regular guild meeting. We’ll do something
each month, like bowling, putt-putt, coffee shops, etc.
