Saturday, March 18, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

* Sew Day! We've moved the logo bags to June, but come see what else we have in store! Bring your sewing machine (don't forget an extension cord), cutting supplies and whatever project you are working on.
* Potluck lunch - we don't have access to the kitchen, so bring something that doesn't need to be heated up or can stay warm in a crock pot.
* Games
* Rope bowl demo - if you missed it at the retreat, we'll be doing this again for a bowl swap in April! All you need is thread and clothesline (and a sewing machine). I've used a variety of rope types, including Household Essentials cotton clothesline 3/16 from Amazon and a synthetic clothesline from Lowes/Home Depot.

Meeting Notes / Announcements

• President Lauren Welsh began the meeting.
• The March meeting will be a sew day, so bring your sewing machine if you’d like. The meeting will start at the regular time and go until 4:30 pm. More details coming in the agenda for next month.

Swap

• Open wide zippered pouches were swapped.

Make and Take

• Zipper Pulls! We had a variety of stations set up with materials for making zipper pulls, including:
• Yarn for pom-poms
• Beads
• Felt
• Button backings

Jana passed out birthday gifts for February.

Show and Tell

• Members showed their creations.

*Nominations for guild officers and voting.  All officer positions need to be filled, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer.  The three current officers have served for two years, and it is always a great idea to have new leadership with new ideas!  (Per the By Laws, we need specifically a President and a Secretary).  You can nominate yourself!

Annual Picnic Meeting

Our annual picnic meeting this year will also be a dual meeting with the Peninsula Modern Quilt Guild!  

Please bring a food item to share with the group, paper products and drinks will be provided by the guild.  Last year we met along the back of the park in the wooded area and we sat at picnic tables, this is where we will try to be again this year, it was a good location with the shade!  You can bring your own camping / outdoor chairs if you like.  

• VBMQG is participating in a swap with the Peninsula Guild, and if you would like to participate in the swap, please make a Medium sized drawstring bag.  Here is the tutorial, be sure to make the medium size:

• Due to unforeseen family circumstances, Maureen Cracknell had to postpone her visit to the VBMQG.  We are waiting for a confirmation for the August meeting, and we will update you when we have a firm commitment from Maureen.  Challenge quilts using Fleet & Flourish will not be due until August
