Meeting Notes / Announcements
- President Lauren Welsh began the meeting by introducing the new officers for 2017.
- The November meeting minutes were approved. It was noted that minutes will be posted no later than the 10th of the month.
- The November treasury report and new budget for 2017 were made available.
- Our membership in the Modern Quilt Guild was discussed and a vote was taken by ballot. It was decided that we would continue our membership for this year.
- If you want to participate in this year’s Secret Sister swap, sign-up and fill out a form to indicate your likes. Sign-ups will continue in February and the first swap will be in March.
Break
Mary collected dues and membership forms.
Chen and Jana passed out birthday gifts for January as well as December.

- Members showed their creations.

- We played two rounds of Quilt-O, like Bingo but with all quilty words!

Meeting Notes / Announcements
- The meeting was held during the annual VBMQG Retreat at the Virginia Beach Resort Hotel & Conference Center.
- The outgoing board members, Jana, Chen, and Mary, all dressed up in animal costumes to preside over their last meeting!
- Jana started the meeting.
- Mid-Atlantic Exhibit 2017 – VBMQG exhibit info was discussed
- Email Angie at fabricaddict@verizon.net with the approximate size and value of your quilt by 12/1/2016.
- Angie will pick up the quilts at the January and February meetings and will return them in March.

- Jana and Chen were unavailable to attend the meeting, so Mary made all announcements.

- Mary Menzer is willing to continue on as treasurer.
- The possibility of no longer being a part of the Modern Quilt Guild was discussed. As a group, right now we may not be seeing a benefit from the national guild, for the cost. A poll will be put up and his will be discussed more in November. If we do split, you could still join The Modern Quilt Guild as an individual if you’d like.

Make and Take
- The meting started with a Mod Podge make and take. Canvases, scraps of Alison Glass fabric and Mod Podge glue were provided. See the VBMQG Facebook group or Instagram for a picture of all the beautiful work.

August 20, 2016
This was our annual picnic meeting held at Red Wing Park and also a dual meeting with the Peninsula Modern Quilt Guild.

· Mary Menzer began the meeting with announcements.
· Maureen Crackenell was unable to attend the meeting. The challenge entries will still be shown and a prize awarded.

o Three days full of sewing (or whatever you want to do), games, door prizes, jelly roll race, and more...

Break for Pot-Luck / Secret Sister / Draw String Bag Swap
· Members brought pot-luck food to share.· Secret Sister gifts were exchanged.
· Those who brought a draw string bag (with notions and fat quarter), picked a new bag from the collection.
Games
· Chen made a saran wrap ball game for everyone to play. Many prizes were contained within, including chocolate, candy, thread, fabric and other notions.· Joy won the grand prize of a layer cake of fabric.
